This disc sander is great for working on small craft projects – home decorations, jewelry, toys, doll furniture, repair work and more. It features a powerful 120V, 1/3 HP motor for fast stock removal. This nice unit features a solid cast iron base with rubber feet to keep it from moving around on your bench. Both the belt and disc tables tilt from 0 to 45 degrees which adds a lot of versatility to this machine. It even has two 1-3/4" dust ports for easy dust extraction. This sander is recommended for light-duty use.

Some poor design

Totally unable to attach the table to the belt sander. This is due to a very poor design of the clamping screw. The screw has only a limited angle that it can be turned before it is necessary to disengage it and rotate back. It will not engage in the nut. The other problem is that it is rather noisy, even without a load. I think this could've been addressed at design time.

Sanding

I got the rikon 1x30 belt sander last Friday. I like the sander I have Ben using a grinder to make knifes on my days off have look at lot of deffrent sanders and desided on this one. I got the sander at woodcraft in okc. Really like it the sander make it lot ezer from start to finsh of the knife and the 5 year warranty is great to glad I got it we I did. If you are looking for a great sander at a great price the 1x30 with the 5" disc is sander to buy.

Great multipurpose machine!

This is actually a good little machine. I actually use it for sharpening knives and the occasional wood project. With 600, 800 and 1000 grit belts and a leather belt you can turn even inexpensive knives into almost razors in no time. You can also remove the disc if you don't use it and put on a buffing wheel for even more versatility! I have seen pictures from commercial firms that use this machine and the plain 1x30 sanders for all their dedicated sharpening lines. You cannot go wrong with this purchase. Ok overall

Sands very nice for a small sander, however the fence is unreliable. Dust ports are not joined together for the 1 in and 5in disk and require swapping the vac hose back and forth. Wish I had spent more and gotten the larger model
